Get Involved
The WestCo CART needs people with many different skills. Animal-handling experience is valuable, but an effective response also depends on logistics, communications, transportation, recordkeeping, equipment, and volunteer coordination.
Potential Roles Include:
Animal Care & Sheltering Operations
Help care for companion animals during an emergency. Roles may include animal handling, emergency sheltering, veterinary care, medical support, and assisting with reunification.
Transportation & Logistics
Help move animals, people, equipment, and supplies where they are needed. Roles may include transportation, facility setup, inventory, equipment management, supply distribution, and other operational support.
Coordination & Communication
Help keep the response organized and information moving. Roles may include volunteer coordination, registration, recordkeeping, administrative assistance, communications, and technical support.
Businesses, agencies, and community organizations can also participate by offering professional expertise, facilities, vehicles, equipment, supplies, training, or other resources.
The WestCo CART is still developing its volunteer structure and training requirements. Expectations will vary by role, and additional training or credentials may be required before someone can participate in an emergency response.
